Our top 10 Cape Town Wedding Venues

Writer's picture: Kelly JacobsKelly Jacobs

We have been very fortunate to see loads of wedding venues in Cape Town in the past 14 years of doing wedding photography. Cape Town is full of amazing wedding venues, which can make the final decision very difficult and overwhelming. We hope that this list will help to make the decision-making process easier!

These are our favourite wedding venues in Cape Town in 2024:

1. Belair Pavilion, Paarl

Our ultimate favourite wedding venue in Cape Town is Belair Pavilion, located in Paarl.

Their website describes this venue best: "It is a contemporary glass and steel building with wrap-around sliding glass doors. It is beautifully positioned in an exquisite garden that is virtually alive, covered in evergreen star jasmine..."

We love this venue because there are so many spots on the property to use as potential photograph locations. It has everything you need for your wedding on one property: the getting ready accommodations, two ceremony areas, a reception area seating up to 250 comfortably, and guest accommodations on the property.

The reception venue offers a green and white colour palette (our favourite!) as a base and can be decorated to your liking.

We highly recommend checking this venue out:

2. Ashanti Estate, Paarl

This Paarl venue is an Italian-styled wedding venue nestled in the Paarl Valley, just beneath the Klein Drakenstein Mountain range. It also has everything you need for your wedding on one property: the getting ready accommodations, 3 different event venues which can cater an intimate wedding celebration or a larger one of up to 500 guests. What we loved about this spot is that the sun sets just over the large dam, located on the venue. Talk about a dream destination!

4. Suikerbossie, Hout Bay

If you're looking for a wedding venue that offers a scenic view of the mountains, AS WELL as the sea, then Suikerbossie is the one for you. It is located in Hout Bay and offers two different venue options: an upstairs smaller venue for the couple wanting an intimate wedding celebration, and a larger capacity venue downstairs for the larger wedding party.

We love that they have their wedding ceremony outdoors, where your guests can have a view of Cape Town's natural beauty while witnessing you tie the knot. They also have guest accommodations available on the property, should you want to get ready on-site. This family-owned venue is the perfect spot for sunset lovers too!

It's a mix of modern sophistication and hosts a taste of farm life. It can host up to 60 guests, with the ceremony taking place outdoors, or indoors for ceremonies taking place on colder days.

6. The Homestead, Plumstead

If you stay in the southern suburbs of Cape Town (like we do), and you're looking for a wedding venue closer to home, then the Homestead, i.e. Food Fanatics is the spot for you!

This venue has a very Victorian feel to it and provides perfectly intimate indoor and outdoor areas that still retain many original Cape Dutch features. The Homestead is a hidden gem waiting to host your next memorable occasion. The outside boasts a vegetable and herb garden, a cosy ‘stoep’ area and a lush rose garden for outside functions.

8. Olijvenkraal, Paarl

As a photography team, we love spaces filled with loads of natural light. That's why we love Olijvenkraal in Paarl. Amidst pristine vineyards and lush olive groves in the Paarl-Franschhoek Valley, you will find this venue – a luxurious space boasting an abundance of natural light. They have a modern blend of versatile indoor and outdoor spaces suited for your wedding day.

They have the coolest ceremony spots we've seen, which is found at the end of a secluded pathway leading you through a camouflage of green, before opening up into a marquee-style structure.

10. Capepoint Vineyards, Noordhoek

Cape Point Vineyards is a family owned Vineyard that is located in Noordhoek, where it is set rather majestically against the slopes of the famous Chapman’s Peak mountain range and overlooks the nearby Atlantic Ocean. What we love about this venue is the large body of water, that the reception deck over looks. The reception space can easily accommodate up to 200 seated guests, with sufficient space for a dance floor.
