As a photographer, I’ve had the privilege of witnessing countless beautiful moments, but every now and then, I get to capture something truly magical—like a surprise proposal. This time, it unfolded at the breathtaking 12 Apostles Hotel, a location that offers a stunning backdrop of mountains, ocean, and romance.
The groom-to-be, Dean, had meticulously planned the day, leaving no detail overlooked. He booked a luxurious picnic setup on the hotel’s mountain range. The scene was perfectly framed by the dramatic Atlantic Ocean in the background, waves crashing rhythmically as if they were part of the day’s choreography.
As the couple arrived, Celeste was none the wiser. I was blending in, pretending to capture general moments for the hotel, while he led her to their cozy picnic spot. They laughed, chatted, and shared bites of strawberries, and you could see the love between them in every glance and smile.
Then, it happened. As the morning light bathed the scene in warm hues, he got down on one knee, a small black box in hand. Her expression shifted from joyful surprise to overwhelmed emotion as he spoke the words that changed everything. Her "yes" was as radiant as the setting sun, and in that moment, I knew I was capturing memories they’d treasure forever.
Afterwards, we did a mini engagement shoot, taking advantage of the hotel’s stunning scenery. The combination of their genuine love and the jaw-dropping backdrop made every photo effortlessly beautiful.
Moments like these are why I love what I do. Being part of someone’s once-in-a-lifetime story is an honour, and this proposal at 12 Apostles will stay etched in my memory—and my portfolio—for years to come.
